Today, this lesson is about two minor chord barre shapes. These are the most important minor barre chords that anyone should use when playing the guitar. Click on Minor Barre Chords for a video guitar lesson.

This is the first shape:

G------------9------
d------------9------
a---7---------------
e---7---------------

The chord above is an E minor chord. 7 is the place where the barre should be.
This is the second shape:

e----5----------------
B----5----------------
G----5----------------
d-------------7-------
a-------------7-------
e----5----------------

The chord above is an A minor chord. 5 is the place where the barre should be. All these chords are movable and you can play over the fret board using any root note.

Try to play them and make sure that you can hear all the notes. If you want more information on major barre chords and what a "barre" is, please click on major barre chords

After you have practiced these chords and you can hear them, try changing them with the major barre chords that are in the same key.
